North Creek Park

This afternoon the girls and I headed to North Creek Park to do some exploring. The park is a wetland with wildlife habitat and a diverse plant community. It was originally owned by historic homesteaders called the Bailey family. The county parks department and Surface Water Management used it as the regional storm water detention facility which was later developed into what it is today. An expansive boardwalk snakes throughout the wetlands and we were able to see and hear all the wildlife that lives there.

We saw Geese flying overheard and birds with odd but beautiful songs. At one point the sun started to peak through the clouds and we heard the grass pop and crackle while it warmed up and dried. The girls loved exploring the water and plants and spotting ducks in the ponds.

After our long walk we ate lunch in the van as it was a tad bit cold to eat outside. Then we headed to the park for one last romp before heading home.
