Bringing Katelyn Home

Well, Katelyn and Autumn survived their week at Bible Camp. They had a great time and were blessed with perfect weather. It was so fun to pick her up and listen to all of her funny stories.

Funny Story told by Katelyn: Autumn got stuck in the bathroom because the door handle wouldn't turn all the way to open. Everyone tried to kick the door and yelling for the counselors to help get her out. Many different counselors came in to try their hand at opening the door. It is rumored that they thought Autumn was holding the door but she wasn't. When nobody could get the door open they got Jack the Camp Director to come to the rescue. Jack had to unscrew the hinges in order to free Autumn. When Autumn came out she put her hands over her head and yelled, "I'm Free!"

Katelyn loved swimming the best but hated having to shower in the colds showers . . . :-). She loved shooting the BB Gun and was able to hit the target.

They enjoyed a carnival and went to different stations where they tried out different games: arm wrestling, Go Fish, stick horse races, dueling water guns, bobbing for apples and getting to dunk their counselors into the new dunk tank.

The kids were divided up into 5 teams: Blue Sparta, Black Athens, Green Greeks, Red Batons and Golden Gladiators. The teams competed in a bunch of camp activities such as cabin clean-up, wining points at mail call and gaining points for memory verses. Katelyn was on the Green Greeks but alas they came in last. Oh well, at least they had fun!

A new thing they've added since I was a camper (No I will not tell you how many years ago that was!) is the "Wheel of Misfortune". Whenever a camper gets a package they have to spin the wheel. The Wheel of Misfortune can either gain or loose points for your team. Whatever it stops on you have to participate in. Those things are: Do your best cow imitation, wear a crazy hat, soak a staff member in the dunk tank, get your chairs and/or silverware taken away for a meal, eat outside for a meal, get to raid the kitchen at night and so on and so forth. Katelyn got a wonderful gift package from Uncle Lee and Aunt Tracie and ended up spinning and landing on the cow imitation. And no, she chose not to do it. We suggested she should have done cow tipping and gotten extra points for creativity. Maybe next year?

Katelyn said she loved the guest speaker. Pastor Curt Jones is from the First Baptist Church in Tumwater. He did magic tricks and has a puppet named Danny.

Thank you to all who sent Katelyn letters and e-mails. She really enjoyed getting each one of them.
