Last week of Summer Vacation

I'm sad to say that our summer is over. Yes, even the weather thinks it is as it's been rainy and cold for a few weeks. We did have a few days of warmer sunny weather but it didn't last long.

The girls had an action packed week. It started out on Monday with Katelyn's 6th Grade orientation. I must say it was a rather long day as we were there for 3 hours. So much to learn, do and pay for!!! We got through the day, saw her friends and learned how to get to each classroom. We are so thankful that the school attendance has dropped from over 1,100 students to about 675 due to the boundary changes. It'll hopefully be less intimidating for all the incoming 6th graders.

As I've posted below, Grandma Carol came over Wednesday morning to help plant the Tree Fort Garden. Then that afternoon Autumn and Jennifer came over for a sleep over. The girls had a fun time rocking out to Rock Band, watching movies and eating pizza and popcorn.

Em went to VBS Monday through Thursday at Gold Creek Community Church. She enjoyed meeting up with her friends and enjoying bouncing in the bouncy things, sliding down the slide, playing crazy games, worshiping Jesus and enjoyed listening to ventriloquist Mark Thompson.

Thursday we said good-bye to Jennifer who had to leave that morning but we did enjoy spending the day with Autumn. Not that they did much but play Rock Band. Each took their turn (except Katelyn) at singing and playing the different instruments. Em has turned out to be a good little rocker girl and sings very well. Katelyn is a killer drum player and keeps up with the best of them. They had lunch in the Tree Fort and enjoyed just hanging out.

Thursday night we enjoyed going to the Family Finale night for VBS. We had a yummy BBQ dinner served to us by Burger Joe and then wound up the day by watching and listening to all that the kids did for the week. It was especially fun to watch Mark Thompson. I really enjoyed it when he had all the kids get up on the stage with their own puppets and formed a puppet choir and sang, "Jesus Loves Me".

Our week ended in a sour note as both girls came down with sore throats and are now sick. We've cancelled all our weekend plans and are sticking around the house trying to rest up before school starts on Wednesday.
